Steven Alwine

Chief Executive Officer

Steven has worked at HealthSouth for almost 25 years. In 1987 he began as a staff accountant, gradually advancing his career through various positions at HealthSouth York, until he was promoted to chief financial officer at HealthSouth Nittany Valley in 2002. He returned to York in 2011 as chief executive officer. He completed his bachelor’s degree in accounting at York College of Pennsylvania. Steven resides in York with his family where he enjoys reading, needlework and gardening.

Dr Bruce Siclia

Bruce Sicilia, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Sicilia has served as medical director of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of York since 1994. He completed his internship in internal medicine and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Sicilia is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), spinal cord injury, neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine, pain management, independent medical evaluations (IME), and acupuncture. Additionally, Dr. Sicilia has a degree in speech pathology and has served as a professor of PM&R at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., prior to coming to HealthSouth. He is in private practice at York Rehabilitation Associates, P.C., and can be reached at 717 764-0840.

Bruce Sicilia, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Elaine Charest

Elaine Charest

Director of Therapy Operations

Elaine joined HealthSouth in September 2011 and oversees the occupational, physical and speech therapy services within the hospital and at the four outpatient locations. She brings more than 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist and rehabilitation manager in the areas of non-profit healthcare, home health care and school based services. She has served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House- Springfield, MA, and the Association of Prosthetic & Orthotics Clinics and has volunteered on the National Board for Certification for Occupational Therapy. Elaine holds a master’s degree in business administration from Western New England College, and an advanced master's degree and bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Tufts University and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr daniel DeFalcis

Daniel C. DeFalcis, M.D.

Associate Medical Director, Director of Neurological Rehabilitation, and Director of Spasticity Management

Dr. DeFalcis has been with HealthSouth since 2002. He completed his internship in internal medicine and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. DeFalcis is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), independent medical evaluations (IME), pain medicine, and spinal cord medicine. Additionally, he is a partner in private practice at Morganstein DeFalcis Rehabilitation Institute and can be reached at 717 764-4251 or via the web at www.mdrionline.com.

Daniel C. DeFalcis, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Tanya Hastings

Tanya Hastings

Human Resources Director

Tanya has been with HealthSouth since 2014 and has served as the human resources coordinator until she was promoted to human resources director in 2017. Tanya is a member of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management), and earned a bachelor's degree in human resources from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tanya resides in Lancaster and enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and cooking.

Joyce Henry

Controller

Joyce joined HealthSouth in April 2012 and oversees the accounting, information technology and central supply functions within the hospital.  She brings more than 20 years of diverse accounting experience to her position.  Joyce holds a master’s degree in business administration from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from York College of Pennsylvania.  Although Joyce has resided in York County her entire life, she enjoys traveling to new places and has a special fondness for tropical islands.

Josette Myers

Josette Myers

Area Director of Marketing Operations

Josette, who joined HealthSouth in 2013, has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations and development.  Prior to HealthSouth, she was the vice president of marketing and community relations at Memorial Hospital. Josette has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Penn State University and a master’s degree in journalism, public relations and advertising from Temple University. She also has her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). Josette is active in her community and currently serves on the board of directors for United Way of York County and volunteers on committees for The Salvation Army, American Heart Association and The Healthy York County Coalition.

Laura Savage

Laura Savage

Director of Quality and Risk Management

Laura Savage joined HealthSouth as director of quality and risk management in May of 2013.  Laura is a registered respiratory therapist with over 25 years of experience in the acute care arena, particularly with cardiopulmonary and sleep medicine.  She earned her bachelor's degree at University of Pittsburgh and her MBA from Eastern University.  She resides in Lancaster with her family.

Julie Scott

Julie Scott

Chief Nursing Officer

Julie has been with HealthSouth since 2001 and has served as the daytime nursing supervisor since 2007. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from York College in 2000 and most recently achieved her designation as a Certified Registered Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN®) in 2009. Julie resides in York with her family.

Michelle Zimmerman

Michelle Zimmerman

Director of Case Management

Michelle started her career as a staff healthcare social worker in August 1983. HealthSouth acquired the hospital in 1994. She has held various positions during her tenure with the hospital and currently supervises the inpatient case management department. Michelle earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Shippensburg University.
